VETERAN SHOOTER OPENS TANEATUA SEASON
Veteran shooter, A. F. McGougan, aged 75, fired the first shot and officially opened the season of the Taneatua Defence Rifle Club on Saturday. A large number of visiting shooters were present, including Major Eustace of Tauranga, members of the Rangitaiki Defence Rifle Club and senior and junior members? of the Whakatane Legion Miniature Rifle Club.
Except for a gusty wind which came up during shooting on the 300 yard range, conditions were good and A. Moore, of the Rangitaiki Club, who dropped only two points on the day’s shooting, was? successful in winning both trophies.
