WINTER SHOW- 1950

The President and Executive of the Winter Show have made favourable arrangements with this paper to publish at suitable intervals details of any matter relevant to the Show and district. Over 5000 residents read each issue, and the Show Executive feels that suitable publicity will enable the Show to break all records next year . ? This is a progressive and prosperous district, but the prosperity of past years is but a hint of the prosperity of the future Millions are going into the timber and paper industry and the natural outlet is Whakatane. . United effort can give us a harbour here and make this town double its population in 10 years. ~ . ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting will be held in the Borough Council Chambers on Thursday, November 17, 1949, at 8 p.m. MEMBERS ARE URGED TO ATTEND, AS PROPOSALS AFFECTING THE ENTIRE SHOW POSITION OF THIS COAST WILL BE DISCUSSED. YOUNG RETURNED SOLDIERS WILL BE SPECIALLY WELCOME, BECAUSE PEACETIME ACTIVITIES DEVELOPMENTS REQUIRE THE ENERGY AND ORGANISATION THAT SOLDIERS GIVE TO WAR. SHOW CUPS These Cups are now engraved and Mf H. G. Warren, the Show President, will hand them to the winners on application at the Whakatane Radio & Electrical Company SHOW ENTRIES ‘ At the recent Show records, were broken in every section with the exception of entries. This was due to short notice but the 1950 Show preparations have already begun. Sow vegetables now for next June Show and get the whole family interested by competing on ? against another. Look out 3 our fruit and vegetables for Show bottling and give the citrus trees a little extra manure. Maize entries are wanted not only for our Show but for our country. The executive appeals to every section of the community to do something for their own Show, either with the work of their hands or the tilling of the rich Ray of Plenty soil.
