EDGECUMBE WINS FIRST GAME In a race against time Te Teko was defeated by Edgeoumbe in the opening of the Whakatane Cricket competition on Sunday ‘by 72 runs in the first innings. Batting first Edgecumbe made 169 (K. Tunjni.cliffe 49, T. Brown 45, B. Tunnicliffe 26- Revell took five wickets for 40 runs). In their first innings Te Teko could only total 18 (Thurlow 6 for 9, Brown 4 for 7) but carried on to the second innings and made 79 (Patterson 23, V. Tunnicliffe 16; Thurlow 4 for 20, Watson 4 for 39). WEEK-END TEAMS P. and T. cricket team to meet Te Puke on Saturday at the Whakatane Domain at 9.15.: J. B. Rivett, F. Paton, Cleland, W. D.
