UNITED FIRST INNINGS WIN OVER PUTARURU Maintaining their unbeaten record for all the games played so ' far this year Whakatane United defeated Putaruru at Putaruru on 'Saturday by 133 runs on the first innings in a non-competition cricket match. A fine performance was put up by W. J. McKenzie, United, the Bay of Plenty representative and New Zealand triallist who in 19 overs claimed six wickets for 19 runs and bowled nine maiden -overs. He then went in to bat and made 2nd top score of the game of 92. Details:— United 243 (Spring 95, McKenzie 92, Wyatt 27; Hampton 3 for 18, Humphrey 2 for 26) beat Putaruru 110 (Fitzherbert 49; McKenzie 6 for 19, Spring 1 for 1, Knightbridge 1 for 14). MARRIED MEN BEAT SINGLE In a return match on Sunday arranged by the P. and T. ' Cricket' Club married men beat Single men. Married first innings 155 for 6 (W. Rivett 93, J. Rivett 17 retired, Paton 15, Henry 10; Shapley 4 for 35). Single first innings 107 (Emerson 45, B. Whiteside 13, Shapley 10; " Paton 5 for 32, J. Rivett 3 for 32).
