Ohope Man Composes Song For Local W.I. With Ohope Setting

Mrs White presided over a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the Ohope Women’s Institute. Mr Mahy Snr. attended the meeting and spoke about the building of the proposed community hall. After a lengthy discussion Mr Mahy was thanked for his address. The combined social held last week was a fine success, and many and varied were the items given by the local talent, all of which were warmly applauded by a large audience.

One song in particular of which the Institute is justly proud is entitled “Beautiful Ohope.” The words to this were written by Mr Lance Natt.rass and dedicated to the Ohope Women’s Institute. Members also appreciate the generosity of Mr and Mrs G. Mahy for their gift of an urn, and Mesdames J. Patterson and C. H. Brebner for their donations.

The glove competition was won by Mrs D. Anderson, and Mrs J. Dickson was points winner, in the flowers and vegetables section. Mrs C. Pearson presided over the sales table, and Mesdames E. R. Marryatt and F'. Cutler acted as hostesses for the afternoon.
