Air Force To Seek Recruits At Whakatane
Continuing the drive for recruits for all branches of the Service, the R.N.Z.A.F. Selection Committee will be visiting Whakatane on November 3. The committee will interview applicants for cadet entrants, adults, W.A.A.F. and aircrew.
"With a new trade structure and increased rates of pay, the R.N.Z.A.F. offers careers in the ground trades which are more than comparable with those found in civilian life. The technical training schools in the service are today better equipped than nt any time in its history, and skilled instructors provide tuition in 74 trades. In an expanding force, promotion prospects are particularly bright, whilst longterm engagements which qualify for a retiring allowance may be applied for during the' initial 8-year engagement. Vacancies for the next draft of cadet entrants which will enter the service on January 25, 1950, are limited, and applications are now being considered for entry intfo nine branches of the R.N.Z.A.F. The age limits for cadet entrants are now from 16 to 17£- years of age. Youths interested in navigator and pilot training will be handed a copy of the conditions of service by the selection committee and arrangements will be made for a subsequent interview by the aircrew selection committee.
The W.A.A.F. continues to attract young women, and the committee will interview applicants for the 15 W.A.A.F. trades. Of special interest are the trades of aircraft trimmer and parachute packer which are now open to airwomen.
