Presentation Made To Mr C. G. Maxwell

A valuable inscribed pocket watch and substantial cheque were handed to Mr C. G. Maxwell in recognition of his long service in the post office for Whakatane and the district, at a special social evening organised by the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce. Attended by a large crowd the presentation was made by Mr R. T. Morpeth, president of the Chamber, who also presented Mrs Maxwell with a set of aluminium saucepans.

The gifts for Mr and Mrs Maxwell were from the public of Whakatane, who ' subscribed very generously to show their appreciation,

Other speakers were Mr L. Buddie, who referred to Mr Maxwell’s valuable work for the people of Whakatane, Mr B. S. Barry, Mayor, and the postmaster, Mr G. H. Wilkes.
