Europe’s Children Helped By Red Cross
During January and February, 800 children from Vienna, Vorarlberg and Lower Austria, 330 from Hanover, 450 from Berlin and 50 from Milan were brought to Switzerland by the Swiss Red Cross and received by Swiss families. During the same period, nine convoys returned to their homes 2,237 children from Hungary, France, Germany and Austria, who had been staying in Switzerland. In January, likewise, the Swiss Red Cross Children’s Relief Preventoria received 100 pre-tuber-cular children from Frankfort and Karlsruhe, 36 from the Moselle, 100 from Milan and 67 from Vorarlberg. From September 1, 1948,. to December 31, 1948 ,the Swiss Red Cross Children’s Relief gave hospital treatment in Switzerland to 4797 pre-tubercular children from 10 European countries. . On January 15 .last, 574, children were being treated inAb Swiss ‘preventoria.' ”
