Monthly Meeting Of Matata W.I.

Although quite a few members were absent on account of sickness and holidays, the monthly meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute was a very cheerful affair. Arrangements were made for the 20th birthday party to be held this month. Long service badges were presented to three members, and a birthday spray to one member. A reading on “The Status of Women” was given by Mrs Reichardt. Proceeds from the always popular sales table were for the Maori fund. Hostesses were Mesdames R. Withy and Warbrick. Varied competitions drew good entries. Results:—

Shortbread: Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs E. Withy 2, Mrs Magee 3. Fruit loaf, Mrs Taylor 1, .Mrs Withy 2. Vase of nemesia, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Caverhill 2. Collection bulbs, Mrs Warbrick 1, Mrs Taylor 2. Child’s apron, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs R. Withy 2, Mijss M. Withy 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs E. Withy 2. Best flower, Mrs Warbrick 1, Miss Burt 2, Mrs Taylor 3.
