No Affect On Prices Of Primary Products By £ Devaluation

(Special to Beacon) Wellington, Thursday. The price of New Zealand primary products exported to Great Britain will not be affected by the recent devaluation of sterling, according to the Dominion President of Federated Farmers (Mr W. N. Perry). All goods from the U.S.A. will, however, be dearer than before and the farming community in New Zealand depended to a great extent on American machinery. “Devaluation should be a spur to us to increase our exports to the United States and Canada to earn as many of these precious dollars as possible,” said Mr 'Perry. “Since Great Britain will have to cut down on her imports, especially foodstuffs, from the dollar areas, there is a challenge to the farmers of New Zealand to increase production so that she will not go short.”
