Second Rugby Test Film A film of the second Rugby test between New Zealand and the Springboks played at Johannesburg is now screening at Whakatane from today until Monday. At 12.30 p.m. today a special workers’ session is being held in addition to the screenings at all other sessions.

Rugby Union Conference A conference of New Zealand and Australian Rugby Union representatives is being held in Sydney this week. One of the questions to be discussed is whether the British touring team next season should play first in New Zealand or Australia. The Rotorua Post Office advises that the rural delivery serving the Mudupara-Galatea area has been extended and the frequency increased to five times a week as from the beginning of this week. The angling season in both the Rotorua and Taupo acclimatisation districts is to be the same this year as last year, from November 1. to May 14 next year. Eastern Maori Electoral Roil The Maori roll for the Eastern Maori Electorate was ■ completed just recently. It contains 11,506 names, alongside of which are the addresses of electors and the names of the tribes to which they belong. Supplementary rolls have been opened and enrolments are being dealt with in the same way as those for the main rolls. It is expected that these will close a few weeks before the elections.

Concrete State Houses

Several State houses of entirely concrete construction should be completed at Shirley by the end of j, the month. The houses, built by a ' contractor who had developed suitable boxing, had come through all tests with flying colours, and with their long life, low maintenance ; costs and earthquake resisting qualities, they appeared to have great possibilities, but the' pity of it was that the shortage of cement limited the extent of their construction.
