Work Planned For Ohope Beach

The County engineer is to prepare proposals for work to be done on the eastern end of Ohope Beach to halt erosion by the sea, which is now washing in rapidly, it was stated at yesterday’s meeting of the Whakatane County Council. Residents in the affected area have signified their agreement of contiibuting towards the cost and the details are to be presented to the Soil Conservation Council! by the chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett. Mr Burnett said it was planned to erect groins in an effort to try and get the beach to build up aagin.
