New Girls’ Marching Association Formed
A large and representative crowd attended a meeting of the Whakatane Marching Association on Monday night and prepared plans to restart the sport again at Whakatane. Several names were received from girls who desired to join teams and it was decided to commence training today from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. on the children’s playing area opposite the Commercial Hotel. Training is to continue at the same time and place from Monday to Friday of each week until teams are sorted out and individual coaching gets under way. Officers elected:— Patron, Mr J. Pattison; president, Mrs M. J. Rowson; vice-presidents, Messrs H. G. Warren, D. O. Stewart, F. Abbott, T. H. Morgan. C. S. Armstrong; trustees, Mrs Rowson and Mr R. L. Murray; Bay of Plenty Centre delegates, Mrs Rowson and Mr Murray; secretary, Mr Murray.
