MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES PLAYED A stableford handicap at the Whakatane Golf Links last week was won by N. H. E. Hockin with a score of 39. W. S. Henderson 38 being second. Hockin’s win resulted from a very well played round of 71.

Tomorrow the semi-finals of the championships and the second round of the Consolation Flights will be played with a stroke handicap competition in conjunction. Result of championship matches played:— Senior: First round, Bell beat R. T. Morpeth, Hockin beat Conway; second round, L. D. Luxton beat Cradwick, D. C. Morpeth beat Bell, Hockin beat Hannah, 1 I. A. Wylds beat W. H. Luxton. Intermediate: Second round, Bradshaw' beat Shaw, L. W. Luxton beat Reynolds, Barry beat Pearson, Mollgaard beat Mussett; semi-final, Bradshaw beat L. W. Luxton. Junior: Second round, Campbell beat T. FI. Wilson' Stewart beat Shuker, Stone beat Armstrong. CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMENCE SUNDAY

The first round of the men’s championships of the Te Teko Golf Club will be played on Sunday. The draw: — Senior: Smith v Hegh, v L. Hall, Thomas v Lyons, Glen v Jamieson.

Intermediate: Macken a bye, Nation v Ranson, Patterson v Modlden, Johnston v Whiteley. Juniro: Saunders v Clarb, Haultain v Latimer-, Balfour v Cook, Housham v Hendl. A Stableford for the following:— Goodwin v Caldwell, Burr v McBride, Watson v Craddock, M. Hall v another.
