SUMMER SPORTS NOW APPROACHING

Most of the winter sports at Whakatane, the Rangitaiki and Galatea have now finished and attention will be focussed on the coming summer sports. In this part of the Bay of Plenty tennis and cricket will be the dominant games played with rowing especially popular at Whakatane, which has one of the strongest clubs in the Bay. Rugby is still in the process of finishing and only the odd competition games in the Bay will be played off from now on. In other parts of the country it is much the same and the two main games will be the last test at Auckland on Saturday and the North-South game at Christchurch the following Saturday.
