The young farmers’ rugby match between Opotiki and Wainui played at Wainui on Sunday resulted in a win for Opotiki by six points to three. Although there had been a good deal of rain the field was in excellent order. . Opotiki’s first ppints came from a fine try. 1 Wainui evened shortly after when Edwards went ever in the corner. Shadbolt’s kick was just short. Opotiki’s second try came after the ball had been kicked over Wainui’s line. Wainui made determined efforts to score in the latter stages of the game.

Next Sunday Wainui will play Waimana. Both teams have won a match. The game will be played at Waimana, and the following Wainui players have been selected: — Fullback, B. Crawford; threequarters, J. Crawford, C. Burke, Sam Collier; five-eighths, T. Shadbolt (Capt), Edwards; half back, B. Codlin; front row, K. Martin,. Ruwhiri, Herdman; middle row, Deews, White, D. Burke, Barry; front row, A. Codlin. Reserves: Backs, M. Burke, Aromoana; forwards, G. Te Pou, S. Collier.
