New Cycle Track To Whakatane Wanted

A suggestion that the area between McAlister Street and the end of the Strand be opened up and raised to the standard where it could be used by cyclists so that some traffic could be taken off Commerce Street was made by C.r R. T. Morpeth to the Whakatane Borough Council. Cyclists were now causing a dangerous problem in Commerce Street and a cycle track would help the situation.

It was decided to make representations to the Whakatane Harbour Board to have the surface of the present track between the two streets raised to the level where it could be used by cyclists.
