Sheep Will Not Be Grazed On Domain Road Cemetery Yet
Sheep are not to be grazed on the Domain Road Cemetery until people who place flowers on graves regularly have been notified, it was decided at the monthly meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council. Cr H. G. Warren suggested that those people who visited the cemetery to bring flowers should be approached and so save any possible misunderstandings. At present there did not seem to be enough feed for sheep and it was probable that the animals would make for the flowers.
The Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, agreed and thought the Council should meet the people wherever possible. So far fencing has been reconstructed and repaired. A pedestrian gate is to be erected before any sheep will be introduced.
