WHAKATANE REACHES v SEMI-FINAL AT ROTORUA Playing consistently good basketball Whakatane played four games with only one loss, which was in the semi-final, at the Rotorua Basketball Association’s annual tournament for the Kurungaituku Trophy last weekend. In the first four games Whakatane ■ won by good margins and ended up in the B grade semifinal against Paeroa, the latter winning by one point when the final bell went. Paeroa went on to draw 22 all against Otahuhu in the final. The following is Whakatane’s record:— v Middlemore B won £2—2, v Horowhenua won 16—8, v Papatoetpe won 11—8, v. Paeroa lost B—7.
