Bay Trotting Club Applies For Totalisator Permit
All . possible steps had been taken to secure the granting of a totalisator permit, including an appeal to local members of parliament to place the case before Parliament when the gaming bill comes up for discussion, said the president, Mr W. Tanner, in his report to the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Trotting Club held.at Tauranga. He indicated that he felt optimistic about a permit being granted. There was a large attendance at the meeting, which included sev-/ eral delegates from Whakatane. Mr Tanner said .that the membership of the club was now representative of all the Bay of Plenty and had been very much assisted by the Auckland Trotting Club to get started again. The club’s accumulated funds stand at £385 11s 3d. The committee, re-elected, comprises Messrs J. H. Evans, H. L. Long, F. Higganson, J. R. Cham-* bers, A. Dunlop, W. Tanner, J. Mitchell and A. D. Aitken; Stewards, re-elected, are Messrs L. Roberts, J. P. Ryan, T. C. Peek, S. Snowden, R. Emmett, T. D. Harvey, •J. P. Cooney and A. J. Wansbone. Mr M. J. Eagles was re-appointed auditor.
