Third Term Starting The third school term for all secondary and primary schools in the Bay of Plenty will commence tomorrow when all children will return to school. This will be the last term of the year before the Christmas break, which begins early in December.
Long Picture Sessions Because of the length of a short feature the picture sessions at the Regent Theatre, Whakatane, during the weekend lasted about three hours. This is the longest screening time held at Whakatane for some time. The usual time for picture programmes lasts undfer two and a half hours.
New Playing Field A fine new grassed playing field at the Whakatane District High School willi be ready for use by the beginning of next year. The playing field boards Lovelock Street and was ploughed up some time ago and sown in new grass, which is now growing in fine style. Ohope School? Not Yet
No further news has been received at Whakatane about the possibility of any primary school being established at Ohope. The question is now being discussed ,by the Auckland Education Board and the Education Department and is now out of the hands of the Whakatane School Committee.
Police Uniform Change An alteration in the design of police uniforms providing for a lapel-fronted tunic to be worn with collar and tie has been approved in principle, states the annual report of the Commissioner of Police, Mr J. Cummings, presented to Parliament. It will necessarily be a gradual change over.
