Murupara Pulp And Paper Projects

The annual report of the Commissioner of Works, Mr E. R. McKillop, presented to the House of Representatives stated that the Ministry of Works was interested in the whole of the State pulp and paper projects at Murupara, but in particular in regard to the building of the town, the construction of 38 miles of railway line from Edgecumbe to Murupara, and the provision of improved harbour facilities at Mount Maunganui. Recommendations were now before the Government with a view to importing the necessary plant and skilled workmen to permit of this important undertaking proceeding as quickly as possible.
