Farmers Criticise Price Of Returned Fertiliser Sacks

He understood that used firstgrade fertiliser bags which were returned to the works gained a refund of 3s 6d per sack, said Mr R. F. Wardlaw, Waimana, when speaking at the quarterly executive meeting of the Bay of Plenty Province of Federated Farmers at Matata. At the same time, he pointed out, dealers who purchased the bags to return them to the works paid, only 6s 6d per dozen. The fact that farmers could not deal directly with the works in the return of their bags was also referred to : by Mr Wardlaw. Mr D. Vercoe, Te Puke, pointed out that farmers who received their orders in second-grade bags were then penalised. It was decided that the question should be investigated by the members on the central fertiliser committee.
