Community Centre Plans At Edgecumbe Held Up For Section
At a meeting convened by the Rangitaiki Memorial Central Committee at Edgecumbe last night the chairman, Mr Chas. E. Thompson, gave a fairly lengthy report on the preliminary work done by the provisional committee in the past year, but mentioned that their efforts had come to a dead end on account of their not being able to find a section suitable as a site for the Memorial Community Centre it is planned to build. In discussion it became apparent that the general opinion was that a public hall and playing areas were an urgent necessity and that every effort should be made to purchase a suitable site. Therefore a permanent committee was formed comprising Mr D. S. Radcliffe chairman, Milan B. Gow, secretary, Mr H. M. Carter, treasurer, Mrs T. G. Roberts, Messrs C. E. Thompson, S. T. Conway and J. E. Black.
