What Our Readers Are Thinking

Though their views on ail subjects are freely published here because we believe it our duty to uphold the public’s right to freedom of opinion, our correspondents’ opinions are not necessarily shared by this newspaper. ,

KNOX COMPETITIONS Sir, —Would you- be good enough to allow me to express the general appreciation felt for the work and enterprise of the committee behind the recent Competitions held in the Knox Sunday School Hall. The whole venture, commenced in a modest way by a group of publicspirited folk, was an outstanding success and speaks volumes for the future possibilities of the Festival if it can be instituted annually. Competitors in some classes were not numerous but without exception the winners in all sections were uniformly good—in some cases excellent. Again it has fallen to the vision and industry of a few to launch this new venture which must do infinite good in encouraging the cultural and musical talent in our community. As one who attended several of the sessions I feel I can assure the group of the warmest co-operation of many in the future. In the meantime, heartiest congratulations, to those responsible. Yours etc., C. KINGSLEY-SMITH.
