National Party Electorate Meeting

A Bay of Plenty Electorate meeting of the National Party attended by some 70 delegates, was held in the Parish Hall, Whakatane, on Saturday. Discussions centred around preparations and organisation for the coming general election. Mr D. Butler (Electorate Chairman) who presided, during a review of party matters, expressed confidence in regard to the forthcoming election! Mr G. Walsh, Chairman of the South Auckland Division, was in attendance, and addressed the gathering on matters of Party and political interest. Mr K. Welch, the Electorate Secretary, and Mr O. M. Pr'cdlander, Organising Secretary of the South Auckland - Division, gave interest-? mg talks and information on the organisation. General leering was that the Party was in good heart and looked forward to complete victory at the 1949 Election. Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. for Bay of Plenty, attended and gave a short talk on recent Parliamentary happenings. A resolution expressing appreciation to Mr S. G. Holland on his telling Budget speech was carried unanimously.
