Standard Good At Junior Competitions Opened Yesterday
Although entries were jnot large the standard of performance was good in,the singing and recitation sections of the Knox Junior Competitions, which opened yesterday and are to continue today, concluding tonight. The judge for the singing was Mrs T. James, Whakatane, and Mrs W. J. Hepburn Jun., Awokeri, was the recitation judge. Yesterday’s results: — Singing: Up to Std 2, Jeanette Wiggins 1; up to 16 years, Marie Guptill 1, Helen Pearson 2, David Metcalfe 3.
Recitation: Up to Std 2. Heather Whyte 1, Clive Ellis 2, Rosalie Gillard 3; up to Std 4, Robin KingsleySmith 1; up to 16 years, Shona Wilson 1, Lois Jenkins 2.
