Matata W.l.'s August Meeting
There was an excellent attend-i ance at the August meeting of the Matata W.I. As it was Hospital Day, the competitions were mostly in the shape of gifts for the patients. There was a goodly array of sponge cakes, jars of jam, sponge bags and flowers. Final arrangements were made for the Flower Show to be held in September. Mrs R. Withy demonstrated the making of hats from cellophane. . The sales table in aid .of the Lepers was most successful. Competition results:— Spring flowers, Mrs Warbrick 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mrs R. Withy 3. Fancy , nightdress, Mrs R. Withy 1. . Jar jam, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Dredge 2, Mrs Conn 3. Sponge cake, Mrs 'Taylor 1, Mrs R. Withy 2, Mrs Jamieson 3. Sponge bag, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Jamieson 2, Mrs R. Withy 3. Best flower, Mrs R. Withy 1, Mrs Smith 2, Miss Burt 3. Best vegetable, Mrs . Conn 1, Mrs H. Withy 2, Mrs Jamieson 3.
