Flood Protection Being Shelved?

Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, a petition is to be circulated amongst business people in the lower Strand with a view to urging the speeding up of flood protection work at Whakatane.

Mr L. King, chairman of the subcommittee concerned, told a general meeting of the Chamber on Wednesday night that he was afraid the matter was going to be shelved by the Public Works Department until the general scheme was approved which might take a long time.
