National Savings Quota Not Filled At Whakatane Yet
Another £4115 is required by the Whakatane post office to fill the annual national savings quota. So far the only successful office in the district is Te Teko although it is expected that the quota at Whakatane will be filled soon. The amount deposited in the Whakatane district so far for this financial year is £8,620 7s. “During the week ending August 6, 347 of the 358 Dominion National Savings quota towns reached their weekly targets. Since April 1 203 towns compared with 156 during the same period last year, have raised theit full annual National Savings quotas. ■ln the Thames postal district, however, which extends from Coromandel in the North to Whakatane m the South and embraces the Hauraki Plains and Te Aroha area, £B,OOO is still required to top the full annual quota of £138,684. It is confidently expected that \ tfiis amount will be in hand well before the end of August, thus beating last year’s record performance, when the district quota was reached in October.
