NO GAMES AT WHAKATANE FOR MEN

An aggregate stroke handicap competition of the Whakatane Golf Club played last Saturday resulted in a win for H. L. and R. King on the count back from Smith and Watson and Hay and Shuker, who all returned net scores of 144. Owing to the football no competitions will be played tomorrow. On the following Saturday,, August 27, the qualifying rounds for the Club Championships will be played in 3ball formation over 36 holes, the 16 best gross scores to qualify in each grade.

TOMORROW’S DRAW FOR WOMEN The women’s stableford bogey matches played at the Whakatane Golf Links last week were won by Mesdames Thomas, Miles and Spence. The following is the draw for tomorrow’s games:— Miss Armstrong v Mrs Wardlaw, Miss Baxter v Miss Otley, Miss Smith v Mrs Miles, Miss Jenkins v Mrs Hay, Mrs Rowson v Miss Jull, Mrs Griffiths v Miss Mac Diarmid, p Miss E. Hall v Miss Murray, Miss M. Hall v Miss Low, Miss Waldegrave ;v Miss Reynolds, Miss Carter v Miss Grant. BOGEY MATCH FOR TE ' TEKO WOMEN A bogey competition for senior women members and a medal round for juniors, for .the Captain’s aad Secretary’s trophies will be played at the Te Teko Golf Club tomorrow.The draw:Mrs Thomas y Mrs Goodwin, Mrs v Balfour v Mrs Smith, Miss Murray V Mrs Caldwell, Mrs Moulden v Mrs Ratahi, Mrs Cannell v Mrs Linsell, Mrs Hall v Mrs Clarke, Mrs Nation v another. MEDAL ROUND AT TE TEKO A medal round has been arranged for the men members of the Te Teko Golf Club, which is to be played on Sunday. The draw is to be placed in the Club house. The club was to have played the Te Puke Golf Club but the match will not take place this week-end.
