7 CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES TO MATATUA.

The Matatua representative table tennis team won seven titles at the Bay of Plenty championships/ at Tauranga on Saturday. Playing against the champions of other Bay centres the Matatua players competed well. F. Paton, Wairaka, won the men’s A grade singles and also the doubles partnered by J. Ruawai, Ruatoki. The women’s doubles were won by Mesdames K. Kepa, Ruatoki, and Wahaponga, Paroa. In the final of the combined doubles Paton and Mrs Wahaponga were narrowly beaten by the Tauranga pair. The Matatua 'Association consists of Clubs in the Whakatane district.
