HEADS QUARRY
Sir ; —ln reply to Mr Brabant’s remarks re another “Maori Hut” being erected on the section wanted by the Harbour Board at the Heads: Evidently he is unaware that the said “hut” -was occupied by people of his own race for many -years. Come, Mr Brabant, you know as well as I do that a permit is necessary before any sort of a house may be erected on that site or any other site. A quarry or a Maori hut—ah! That is the question! and being a homeless Maori, I prefer the hut. Yours etc.,
K. JOHN,
Sir, —Another “Maori House”, Mr Brabant? And what do you mean by another “Maori House”? Perhaps another “Maori House” might house a homeless Maori. Eut then of course,, that is not half so impoi’tant as spoil to dump in the harbour.
Perhaps some “Maori Houses” might not be all that could be wished for, but of course all dwellings housing Europeans are above reproach. We can’t all afford mansions, but we do all need shelter. I' would suggest that because some people are opposing the Harbour Board’s scheme to have a quarry at the Heads that is no excuse for any man, whoever he may be, to attack another section of the community.
Yours etc., JUST A MAORI
