Kissing Does Not Spread Germs Says Health Department

Kissing is not a dangerous germspreader, according to the Illinois Health Dept. The department says: “Kissing is a pleasant greeting, an agreeable salutation and a boon to mankind’s mental health.” A State health review attacks stories that disease can be spread by kissing. It says: “Most people have a false idea about bacteria. Each dust particle in the air is covered with hundreds of them. “But most of them are harmless. Some bacteria are useful to man. They make cheese, wine, beer, vinegar and dough. “Let us not condemn the kiss.”

The review concedes some bacteria could be exchanged during a kiss, but concludes —“So what;”
