Awakeri Y.F.C. Has Large Attendance At Monthly Meeting

At' a combined meeting with the Country Girls’ Club there was a record attendance including nine new members, when the Awakeri Young Farmers’ Club held its monthly meeting in the Awakeri hall on Tuesday. Discussion took place on proposed field days at a cordial factory, a concrete works and a trip on the paper mills train to the mill plan, tation at Matahina, which it was decided to leave to a less busy month.

It was decided to accept the Wainui Young Farmers’ Club’s challenge to a football match, to support the District Committee in an attempt to revive the Opotiki Club, and also that a social be held in conjunction with the Country Girls’ Club.

Mr W. A. McCracken presented the club with the cup for the best court in the recent Winter Show and Mr J. Hawken, district chairman. commented on . the brilliant efforts of all competing clubs. A very interesting and educational lecture was given by Mr Mandeno, Dairy Board Consulting Officer, who with the aid of slides illustrated the advantages of selective breeding of dairy stock.
