No Opposition y, There has been no opposition *6 the proposal of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board to apply for a loan of £32,000 the chairman, Mr J. According to the Church Wardens’ report to last week’s meeting of Church of England parishioners at Whakatane, the vestry has applied to the Lands and Survey Department for title to a section at Edgecumbe, priced between £99 and £IOO, which may be needed for a vicarage later on. Test Broadcasts For the second All Black-South African rugby Test match tomorrow, the broadcasting authorities have arranged for radio descriptions through four channels, supplemented by a cable service, the Director of Broadcasting, Mr W. Yates, said this week. The broadcast will be through 2YA and the cricket test N.Z. v England through 2YC.
Board Not Concerned <> ~ As long as the proposed new mairA highway into Whakatane does now pass the hospital the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board has no objection to the new town planning scheme now being considered by the Whakatane Borough Council the chairman of the Board, Mr J. Mullins, said at the monthly meeting at Whakatane yesterday. However it is not expected that the new highway will pass any-’ where near the hospital.
Registered Roses A decision to register internationally the name of all new pedigree roses grown in New Zealand has been made by the National Rose Society of New Zealand. The decision brings the society into line With societies in Britain and the United States. It will eliminate much confusion that has arisen in the past regarding duplication; of names. Unregistered roses will, in future, be barred from shows held among the society’s 2400 New Zealand members.
