Women’s Institute At Nukuhou North
Yet another women’s institute has been formed in the Bay of Plenty, this time at Nukuhou Northi When the first meeting was held there was a good attendance of intending members and visitors from the Waimana Institute. Mrs Wyde presided and was accompanied by Mrs McGillivray and Mrs Ron Macdonald, president and secretary of the Waimana W.I. respectively.
Mrs Wylde addressed the meeting on the ideals and meanings of women’s institutes and included some advice of forming drama and gardening circles. Entertainment was provided by the Waimana visitors. A humorous sketch by Mesdames King md Stevenson and a parody written :jy Mrs Hewitt caused considerable amusement. Vocal duets were sung by Mrs G. Mitchell and Mrs Potter. Assistance to the new institute was offered by the Waimana W.I. Nukuhou North will start off with a membership of 22. Competition results: — Best flower, Mrs Grant 1, Mrs Hughes 2; best vegetable, Mrs R. Macdonald 1, Mrs Hughes 2, Mrs I. Savage 3.
