Basketball Dance Was Huge Success

With visitors from all over the Bay of Plenty and the East Coast as far down as Wairoa the combine ed basketball dance at Whakatane on, Saturday night was an outstanding success. The crowd was the largest seen in a dance at Whakatane for some years and even rivalled the attendance records of recent balls.

At one stage there were, so many people in the hall that, dancing was impossible and the dances became only a shuffling crawl. Organised by combined basketball clubs the dance realised a handy profit. A lucky spot fox , trot was . won by Mrs Roberts and Mr H. Harvey, while the monte carlo was won by Miss B. Murray and Mr M. Rope, Edgecumbe. The music was by Freddie Burt and his Orchestra with Mr G. Grey, Taneatua, and Mr R. Sloane playing extras during the evening.
