Keen Interest Of Members Of Matata W.I. In Competitions

Very keen interest in the competitions shown by the members Of the Matata Women’s Institute at their monthly meeting There were numerous entries in all classes. An interesting and educational talk on “Maori pronunciation and Maori customs” was given by Mrs Marr, who also explained the meaning of many place names. A poem, “Bird Song,” composed b3' F. Reichardt, was read by Mrs Caverhill. Hostesses were Mesdames Marr ~-aQd Laugeson. Competition results:— - 'Early bulbs, Miss Burt 1, Mrs Taylor 2, Mrs Jamieson 3; hot water bag cover, Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Marr 2, Miss M. Withy 3; winter decorations, Mrs Laugeson 1, Miss Withy 2, Mrs R. Withy 3; four plain biscuits, Mrs Jamieson 1, Mrs Taylor 2, Mrs Caverhill 3; best vegetable, Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs Reichardt 2, Mrs Jamieson 3; best flower, Miss Burt 1, Mrs Caverhill 2, Mrs Jamieson 3.
