No Sale Of Eggs By Weight At Whakatane

Although grocers in Tauranga are to sell eggs from this week by weight no move has yet been done by Whakatane retailers to follow the same procedure. This new system is more of a trial in Tauranga and if not successful will be discarded.

When this was referred to a local grocer he said it was not likely that eggs would be sold by weight at Whakatane. Tauranga eggs came from'the , Egg Marketing Pool and the Government was keen for towns supplied by the pool to give the weight system a trial. At Whakatane the position was slightly different as egg retailers purchased eggs from whoever they liked.
