AUSTRALIANS TO PLAY EXHIBITION GAMES

Members of the Whakatane Badminton Association are travelling to Tauranga on Monday afternoon to see exhibition games by the Australian Badminton team at present touring New Zealand. The games will take place in Tauranga Monday night and will be attended by players from throughout the Bay of Plenty. When it was first known that the team was coming to Tauranga -officials of the Bay of Plenty Badminton Association had hopes of playing it against a Bay of Plenty team but lack of time prevented this.-,., The Australians are the first overseas badminton team to visit { the Bay of Plenty for some years. / At present badminton is going ahead quickly at Whakatane and large numbers of players are turning up to club nights. It is hoped that competitions will be able to be started soon.
