THORNTON PACK WINS SHIELD AT WOLF CUB RALLY
Boys of the Whakatane Wolf Cub Packs had a most enjoyable time last Saturday when the annual District Rally for the Big John Shield (local competition only) took place. The weather was perfect and the general high spirits of the boys ensured a very memorable day and' very keen competition in the various events.
At the conclusion of the programme, Commissioner KingsleySmith thanked the Rally Chief (Mr Malcolm Law) and called for three cheers for the Thornton committee which had sponsored the Rally. Mr W. Arbuckle (chairman of ' the Thornton committee) presented the shield to Miss K. Adams, Akela to the Thornton Pack, winner of the trophy with an aggregate score of 832 points out of a possible 100.
