Competition Amuses Thornton Women

A competition tearing a pig out of paper, caused much amusement at the monthly meeting of the Thornton Women’s Institute, presided over by Mrs D. Branch. This was won by Mrs Morgan with Mrs Jones winning the second competition.

Hostesses for the afternoon were: Mesdames Robb, Jones, J. Branch, and C. Smith.

The competition results:— Best flower, Mrs Robb 1, Mrs Jones 2; best vegetable, Mrs Sheat ], Mrs Ferguson 2; decorated plate, Mrs Lennon 1, Mrs D. Branch 2; wool cosy, Mrs McQueen 1, Mrs Jones 2; ginger cake, Mrs Tooke 1, Mrs Jones 2.
