Bay Of Plenty Is Fourth In District Lamb Competition
The Bay of Plenty has been placed fourth in the judging in England of entries in the North Island District Lamb Competition. The entries from this district were described by the judges as a very creditable group of lambs of nice make and shape. They were generally lean and fleshy, well butchered and nicely dressed. In a competition of such a high standard, they were regrettably placed fourth. There were 14 entries in the competition. Commenting on the individual pens the judges stated that the first placed pen of W. J. Griffin (Te Puke), comprised three choice, short, thick lambs. Profitable butchers’ meat—a nice pen. The second placed pen from L. Johnstone (Te Puke) comprised three good lambs of nice shape, two slightly fat on dock and one bruised on leg.
