Edgecumbe W.I. Birthday Party
The Edgecumbe Women’s Institute birthday party held on Tuesday afternoon, was enjoyed by members and a large number of visitors from other Institutes. Mesdames R. Ferguson and J. Simpson, vice-presidents, met the visitors and gave each a lucky door ticket. President Mrs H. M. Cantrell, welcomed all and hoped that everyone would enjoy the afternoon. Mrs D. Spence opened the programme with piano solos, Edgecumbe Women’s Institute Cnoir gave two items, Mrs Watson monologues, a playette by members of the Edgecumbe Drama Circle, Mesdames A. McLean, S. Yardley ctnd S. Pearce.
Mrs A. Thomson, a member v/ho is, leaving the district, received a spoon and spray. Birthday sprays were given to Mesdames C. Thompson, L. Wilson and S. Learning.
Wall competitions: Mesdames L. Wilso nand. D. G. Hawkins.
Other competitions: Cake, Mrs J. Black; dinner, Mrs J. Tunnicliffe; chocolates, Mrs D. Radcliffe; lucky door tickets, Mrs Bowden, Manawahe.
