Waimana-Nukuhou W.I. Meeting

The June meeting of the . Wai-mana-Nukuhou W.I. was. well* •* attended, Mrs Hewitt, presiding

A circular was read from the executive asking for two stewards to help with the Whakatane Winter Show, and Mrs M. King and Miss Rust offered to help. An invitation to. the V/oodlands W.I. birthday was received, and it was decided to hold the WaimanaNukuhou birthday as usual in Aug-r ust . and to invite sister Institutes.

1 Mrs F. J. Savage gave a further interesting talk on her Australian tour. She visited Tamworth ahd Gleninnes, and on the way there passed acres of white maize which is made into cornflakes. The Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves .wejre of great interest, the caves bqirtgwonderful. The story is that iin 1841, a white man stole a horse and hid it in a cave, and after a long search the horse was found by the owner, who thus discovered the now famous caves.

Mrs Savage was accorded a hearty vote of thangs. .Mrs Tankard and Mrs G. Mitchell entertained with two vocal duets.

Steam pudding without •fruit:. Mrs Stevenson 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs M. King 3. j The roll call, “Winter Garden--j ing,” drew a good response.
