Cold Audience
A Red Cross field director called a nearby hospital to tell the nurse that a group of musical Gray Ladies from the New York Chapter was coming to sing to the patients in a certain ward. An orderly answered the telephone, and after taking the message said: ‘‘They can sing if they like but I don’t know how much the bo vs will enjoy it. This is the MORGUE!”
