Manawahe W.I.
The June meeting of the Manawahe Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Goldsmith. The roll call “What I would like to do when I retire” brought forth some interesting remarks. A competition, guessing the identities of members from a collection of old photographs, caused much amusement and was won by Miss G. Drabble. The Parcel for Britain was drawn by Mrs Goldsmith. Mrs W. King gave a most helpful and interesting demonstration on how to turn the heel of a sock.
Monthly competition results:—■ Best bloom, Mrs Mikklesen 1, Mrs Baldwin 2; shrub, Mrs Bowden 1, Mrs Morice 2; pikelets, Mrs Goldsmith 1, Mrs King 2; vegetable, Mrs Morice 1, Mrs Bowes 2.
