Taneatna War Memorial Committee

A fairly well attended meeting of the Taneatua War Memorial Committee was held in the hall supper room, Mr L. Richardson presiding. The treasurer. Mr A. Cradwick, presented the report on the Paddy’s Market held recently. The results from this were most gratifying, a total of over £2OO being taken with the proceeds of the bottle drive expected to be in the vicinity of £SO still to come in. After some discussion it was decided to hold a Coster Ball on June 23. It was thought that this would be a definite novelty for the district and it was hoped that the idea would catch on and the public would wear costume. A committee comprising Mesdames H. Hill, Fj Gardner, R. Ricketts, L. Grey and Messrs E. Hill and F-. Gardner was elected to organise the ball. Mr Steer and Mr R. Ricketts made generous donations towards the supper.
