Planters Find Fern At Murupara Is Wet

Tree planters working for the State Forest Service at Murupara on Wednesday decided that the fern and scrub among which they were working was too wet for comfort, so they returned home early and announced that they would not return until their union secretary bad been consulted on the spot. However, a number did resume Thursday morning. The men are not asked to work in wet weather and they are paid a minimum wage, wet or fine, whereas the timber workers are paid only for actual time during which they are employed.
